A Busy Couple Months of Community at The Indy

The past couple of months have been a great reminder of what The Indy is all about… community, connection and people coming together to support one another.

We’ve been involved in a whole range of activities and events recently, and each one has brought its own bit of energy, teamwork and positivity.

Colour Fun Run

One of the highlights was taking part in the Colour Fun Run, which was a brilliant day full of laughter, colour and community spirit. It was great to see everyone getting involved and enjoying themselves, with staff and volunteers from The Indy Pantry there to support and be part of the day.

Run for 97

We’ve also had some of our residents, volunteers and staff take part in the Run for 97, which was a really powerful and meaningful event to be involved in. It was great to see people from across The Indy community taking part together, supporting each other and being part of something that brought people together in such a positive way.

Hugh Baird & Sovini Group Entrance Project

Another fantastic recent project has been a brilliant community partnership between Hugh Baird College and The Sovini Group, who helped transform our front entrance area. A huge shoutout goes to the talented bricklaying students at Hugh Baird College for their hard work in replacing the old, weathered wooden boxes with a brand new entrance space. Their effort and skill has made such a visible difference, and we’re really grateful for the time and care they put into the project. We’d also like to thank The Sovini Group for kindly donating materials to help make it happen.

Community Garden Meets Community Pantry

We’ve also been continuing to grow our focus on bringing people together through simple, practical community ideas including a recent community garden meets community pantry initiative. We had tomato and strawberry plants available for people to take home, along with free compost and planters. It was a really positive way to encourage people to try something new, get growing at home, and enjoy a bit of gardening along the way.

It’s small things like this shared activities, new opportunities and people supporting each other that really show what community looks like in action.

Everything we’ve been involved in over the past couple of months has had the same goal at its heart: helping people feel connected, supported, and part of something positive. Whether it’s through events, partnerships, volunteering or everyday activities, the impact is always the same, bringing people together and creating opportunities to grow.

A big thank you to everyone who has been involved, supported, or taken part in any of these activities. It genuinely makes a difference.

Here’s to more of the same in the months ahead.
