The Independence Initiative are pleased to announce a job vacancy for a Concierge working in our transitional housing units (THE KEY). These units offer accommodation for those at risk of homelessness with a history of substance misuse.
The person appointed will work evenings in a shift pattern (approx. 15 hours p/wk plus holiday cover) and the current rate of pay is £11.78 p/hr. This will be increasing in April 2025. We have 4 sites across Bootle, and travel will be required during each shift. Travel expenses will be paid.
You will be expected to perform basic housing management and domestic duties. Full details are available in the job description as detailed below.
The successful candidate will be given a full induction but ideally you will have similar experience in another setting. A self-starter that can show the initiative to work alone but within the needs of the organisation.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Concierge Staff p/t (shift pattern including some weekends)
Responsible to: Deputy CEO
Responsible for: The effective domestic operation of The Key sites, with on-going housekeeping and housing management duties.
Salary: £11.79 per hour (as of April 2024) – new rates from April 2025 tbc
JOB PURPOSE
The overall purpose of the post is to maintain the efficient running of The Key over all sites whilst providing domestic support for the residents
MAIN DUTIES
1. To assist with residents during any particular shift, in terms of domestic support, i.e. cooking, laundry, cleaning, etc.
2. To ensure that vacant rooms are maintained to a high standard
3. Demonstrate an ability to keep up to date records of work within The Key.
4. To be available to carry out ad-hoc duties during paid sessions.
5. Participate in the development and application of set standards of good practice and apply the principles of equal opportunities to all aspects of the work of The Key.
6. Undertake any duties as deemed necessary for the effective running of The Key
7. Participate in the evaluation and monitoring of the relevance, usefulness, interest, and success of The Key
PERSON SPECIFICATION
The candidate needs to demonstrate the ability to:
