The Big Lunch at The Indy

Recently, our garden at The Independence Initiative came alive with laughter, conversation and the smell of delicious food for our very own Big Lunch event.

Thanks to funding from Sefton CVS, we invited our pantry members and local community to come along, have a bite to eat and just spend some time together. The sun was out, the bunting was up and we even had our own homemade coconut shy (proudly built by Dave & Les!).

It didn’t take long before everyone was chatting away, having a laugh and giving the coconut shy their best shot. We had prizes up for grabs and a few little challenges, so there was plenty of friendly competition going on. In between all that, we tucked into loads of food and drink and of course there was cake!

The best bit was seeing everyone chatting, swapping stories and just enjoying the sunshine together. It was the kind of laid-back, friendly vibe we love at The Indy.

The event was such a success that our pantry users have already asked if we can host something similar every month. We think that’s a brilliant idea, and we’re already looking forward to the next get-together in the garden.

A huge thank you again to Sefton CVS for making the day possible and to everyone who came along and made The Big Lunch such a joyful occasion. Here’s to many more afternoons like this!
