The Indy Garden – Shaped by Our Community

One of the things we’re particularly proud of at The Indy is our garden.

It’s not just because it’s looking good (although we’re pretty happy with how it’s coming along!). It’s because of the people who have helped make it happen.

The Indy Garden is part of the Bootle South Pride in Place area, and from the start, we’ve wanted local people to have a real say in what the space could become.

We’ve listened to ideas, worked alongside residents and volunteers, and watched people get stuck in and make the garden their own.

Watch the video to find out more about the Indy Garden and the people behind it.

It’s about more than gardening

For us, the garden has never really been about having a nice bit of green space.

It’s about having somewhere people can come together.

You might be helping with the planting, getting involved in one of the projects, having a chat with someone or just enjoying a bit of time outside. Sometimes it’s those simple things that make a place feel like your own.

And we’ve certainly had our fair share of muddy shoes along the way!

Seeing People Get Involved

What we love most is seeing people take ownership of the space.

Someone might come along with an idea, another person might lend a hand, and before you know it, you’ve got a group of people working together and making something happen.

That’s what community should feel like to us.

It’s people having a voice, sharing ideas, getting involved and being proud of what they’ve helped create.

We’re really looking forward to seeing where the garden goes next and, most importantly, seeing even more local people enjoy it.
